About the Background Remover
A background remover cuts the main subject out of a photo and makes everything behind it transparent. This one uses an AI model that runs in your browser: drop a photo of a person, product, pet or logo and download a transparent PNG, or place it on white or any colour. Your image is never uploaded; only the AI model is downloaded once.

Fast or High quality: which should I use?
Fast mode uses a small 4.4 MB model that works on any phone or computer and handles clear subjects such as products, people and logos well. High quality mode downloads a larger 109 MB model once and gives cleaner edges around hair, fur and fine details. It needs a browser with WebGPU, such as a recent Chrome or Edge.
How do I get the best cut-out?
Use a photo where the subject is in focus and stands out from the background in colour or brightness. Busy backgrounds, motion blur and subjects that blend into the background are harder for any AI model. If an edge looks rough in Fast mode, try High quality mode.

Is the background remover really free?
Yes. There is no sign up, no daily limit and no watermark, and you download the full-size result.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The AI model runs in your browser, so your photos stay on your device. Only the model file is downloaded, and it is saved for next time.
What image formats can I use?
JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF, up to 50 MB. The result is a PNG with a transparent background, or with the colour you choose.
Why is the first run slower?
The first time, your browser downloads the AI model (4.4 MB for Fast, 109 MB for High quality). After that it is stored in your browser and starts much faster.
